Title: Pennisetum squamulatum: Is the Predominant Cytotype Hexaploid or Octaploid?

Abstract: The article examines the presence of cytotype hexaploid and octaploid in Pennisetum squamulatum. The plant has been utilized to transfer apomixis into Pennisetum glaucum by the introgression of an apospory-specific genome region (ASGR)-carrier chromosome. Regardless of the genetic background, ASGR-carrier chromosome in P. squamulatum had similar morphological characteristics. Due to the use of enzymatic maceration method, the anomalous chromosome numbers were probable.
