Abstract

The article examines the presence of cytotype hexaploid and octaploid in Pennisetum squamulatum. The plant has been utilized to transfer apomixis into Pennisetum glaucum by the introgression of an apospory-specific genome region (ASGR)-carrier chromosome. Regardless of the genetic background, ASGR-carrier chromosome in P. squamulatum had similar morphological characteristics. Due to the use of enzymatic maceration method, the anomalous chromosome numbers were probable.
