Answering questions from breastfeeding women on use of medications: which elements to include, and how to present them? A descriptive pilot study.

Abstract

The article discusses research which described how the SafeMotherMedicine, a web-based medicines information service for pregnant and breastfeeding women, delivers safety information of medication use during breastfeeding in written answers to questions. The study identified elements used in safety assessment of medication use during breastfeeding, including transfer of medication into breast milk, pharmacokinetic principles, adverse effects, observation and age of the breastfed child.
