Abstract

The article focuses on the controversial use of corticosteroid premedication to prevent iodinated contrast medium (ICM)-related allergic reactions. Topics include the varying effectiveness of premedication in reducing allergic reactions to high- and low-osmolality ICMs, the limitations of corticosteroids in providing complete protection, and the alternative strategy of switching contrast media, particularly in patients with severe non-immediate reactions like DRESS syndrome.
