Abstract

The study in the Clinical & Experimental Dermatology journal focused on the utility of chest X-rays in addition to QuantiFERON testing for detecting latent tuberculosis in patients before starting biologic therapy. The research found that QuantiFERON was highly sensitive in detecting LTBI, while chest X-rays were less effective and led to additional imaging requirements. The study recommended considering QuantiFERON alone for screening dermatology patients with a low pretest probability to reduce the burden of care and save costs for healthcare services.
