The article explores the relationship between feminism, self-publishing and hashtag activism. Noted is the Latin nonsense phrase "nolite te bastardes carbonundorum," which is scratched into the closet baseboard in the television series "The Handmaid's Tale," and subsequently became a hashtag. Feminist forms of self-publishing are noted including the sexual health pamphlets of the 1920s, the consciousness-raising groups of the 1970s, and the zine culture of the 1990s.
