- Authors
Slovin, Hannah
- Abstract
The article presents a study which identifies the ability of second grade students in counting multiple bases and their understanding of the mathematical concept of the counting system for place value. It is investigated on 20 second grade students who used Measure Up (MU) as their mathematics program, wherein they are asked to count in multiple bases. It reveals that the 20 students have skills in counting but they have different levels of generalization of method and explanation of principles.
