The author discusses the protests that were numerous during the Vietnam War and notes how fewer mass protests were staged during the Iraq War and during U.S. conflicts with Afghanistan. The idea of rhetorical contextualization is discussed, including how the public's reaction to conflicts are determined by the current political climate in addition to their own ideological beliefs.
