The new coaxial matched load design with chip resistor and stepped transformer is described in this study. The proposed structure exhibits lower reflection and a wider range of operating frequencies than standard coaxial loads. Electromagnetic energy is absorbed in this design by a tantalum resistor on an Al2O3 substrate, which makes the manufacturing process simple and inexpensive. The reflection characteristics of the load under study were simulated numerically using a simplified model that included only the main parts of the load structure. Additional experimental studies made it possible to find the dimensions of the chip and other parts of the load design that provide improved electromagnetic characteristics.
