Weaver, Robert C.

Abstract

The former US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) discusses HUD's policies, programs, and performance during 1965-85. HUD's main goals were housing production, particularly for the poor; community development; and equal opportunity. Various legislation was enacted to promote these goals during the Lyndon B. Johnson and Jimmy Carter administrations. The Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan administrations weakened and reversed policies.
