Title

Fembot Feminism: The Cyborg Body and Feminist Discourse in The Bionic Woman.

Authors

SHARP, SHARON

Abstract

The article discusses the conflict between feminism and representations of femininity in the television program "The Bionic Woman." The show featured Lindsay Wagner as a woman recreated as a cyborg after an accident. The author notes how television critics did not discuss the feminist aspects of the program and comments on how Wagner's salary negotiations were viewed in gender terms. She discusses how the program emphasized Wagner's sexuality while promoting a strong female role model.
