Title

RETARDED EJACULATION IN HOMOSEXUAL PATIENTS: A REPORT OF NINE CASES.

Abstract

The article presents information about retarded ejaculation in homosexual patients. Retarded ejaculation is defined as the persistent difficulty or inability to ejaculate despite the presence of adequate sexual stimulation and erection. The research literature on retarded ejaculation is scarce. This may be because it is a rare phenomenon or because it 18 underdiscovered and consequently underreported. Patients with significant ancillary psychopathology will be more difficult to treat, may require a different focus in therapy, and may have a poorer prognosis. Everyone is aware of the limitations of a case study of only 9 patients. There is no control group nor can one compare the symptomatology of retarded ejaculation in homosexual versus heterosexual patients. As with all case study research, there is difficulty in identifying unambiguous influences. Nevertheless, from even this limited sample one can see that not all men with retarded ejaculation are similar. In some cases, retarded ejaculation may be an indicator of more complex psychological disturbance, land in others it may be a transient and milder symptom.
