Abstract: The article cites a research study by S. Dong and colleagues and published in the online edition of the journal "Nature Reviews Microbiology," which examined oomycete Phytophthora spp, plant pathogens that have a specific host range. Scientists have also found that an effector protein of Phytophthora infestans evolved to function in its sister species Phytophthora mirabilis.
