Title

Host response: Salmonella triumphs over autophagy.

Authors

Kåhrström, Christina Tobin

Abstract

The article presents a study which identifies the pathogen-induced amino acid starvation response that activates the autophagic degradation of intracellular bacteria called xenophagy. The researchers have discovered the important host defense pathway and triggers responsible for the induction of xenophagy. The study indicates that intracellular bacteria could perturb other cellular processes regulated by cytosolic amino acid concentrations.
