Title

Industrial microbiology: Turning up the heat on biomass degradation.

Authors

Jermy, Andrew

Abstract

The article discusses research being done on biomass degradation. It references the study "Identification and characterization of a multidomain hyperthermophilic cellulase from an archaeal enrichment," by J. E. Graham in the 2011 issue of "Nature Communications." It mentions that the study on EBI-244, a putative glycosyl hydrolase, shows endoglucanase activity in high-molecular-mass carbohydrate substrates. It adds the potential of EBI-244 in biofuel production.
