Abstract

The article focuses on the three papers that provide information on how cytoplasmic ATPase SecA moves polypeptides through the SecY channel. Zimmer and members analyze the crystal structure of SecY that are associated with SecY complexes. On the same arrangement, Tsukazaki and group discover the hydrophobic crevasse promoted by the expansion of anti-SecY Fab fragments. Erlandson and associates investigate the helix finger-like structure that protrudes from SecA into the cytoplasmic funnel.
