Getting to know the tiny majority.

Abstract

The author offers his thoughts on an initiative forwarded by the United States National Institutes of Health (US NIH) concerning the influence of the microbiome on human development, immunity, nutrition, and physiology. He states that this government institution started the Human Microbiome Project (HMP) which is targeted to generate resources which can forward comprehensive characterization of the human microbiota and its role in human health and disease.
