Abstract

The article discusses the effects of oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is cited as the primary cause of DNA damage. The property of oxidation to neutralize bacterial pathogens is utilized by specialized immune cells in the performance of its functions in the human immune system. The human pathogen Neissera meningitis is cited as major cause of disease and deaths.
