Title

Riboswitching off bacterial growth.

Authors

Owens, Joanna

Abstract

The article presents the study by Blount and colleagues on the role of bacterial riboswitches in the discovery of new drugs. An overview of roboswitches, the RNA structures that function as metabolic sensors that regulate gene expression thereby presenting the new class of antibiotic target, and the testing of 12 analogues to bind to the lysine riboswitch of Bacillus subtilis, is presented.
