Abstract

The article cites a study conducted by Caroline Barelle and colleges from the University of Aberdeen about the complex metabolic strategies used by Candida albicans to maximize growth during invasive disease. Researchers revealed that C. albicans uses different carbon metabolic pathways at different stages of a systematic infection. Moreover, they generated C. albicans strains that express green fluorescent protein fusions to genes to find out more on the fungal metabolic strategies.
