Title

Bioinformatics: Exploiting the genome: DNA motifs.

Authors

O'Connell, David

Abstract

The article discusses a study which explores the DNA motifs present in the genome of the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides that bind three transcription factors called PrrA, PpsR and FnrL. It uses the hierarchical clustering of R. sphaeroides genes using microarray mRNA expression data. The researchers believe that the techniques were useful in additional gene clusters derived from microarray data, and in the prediction of genes regulated by the biological processes.
