Title

Bacterial pathogenesis: Envelopes and the inflammatory response.

Authors

Jones, Susan

Abstract

The article discusses the results of the study of how mycobacterium tuberculosis envelope lipids function in pathogenesis. It was reported that cyclopropane modification of a cell envelope glycolipid worked to assure the host innate immune response in the earliest part of infection. The study showed that initiation of tumor necrosis factor by virulent M. tuberculosis was a significant pathogenic strategy.
