Title

Neuroblastoma: The right type of ALK.

Authors

McCarthy, Nicola

Abstract

The article offers news briefs related to cancer research. Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) was found to be mutated in neuroblastoma. Research by H. Nagai and colleagues indicates that multiwalled, crystalline carbon nanotubes can pierce mesothelial cell membranes which may lead to mesotheliomas. Five NOTCH fusions and microtubule-associated serine-threonine (MAST) kinase fusions were found in expressed gene fusions in cancer cell lines by Dan Robinson and colleagues.
