Title

A Comment on: Lower Bound Restrictions on Intensities in Data Envelopment Analysis by Bouhnik et al.

Authors

Petersen, Niels Christian

Abstract

The article presents information about lower bound restrictions on intensities in data envelopment analysis. The concept of fixed charge models may well be of relevance in some applications and models of this type provide an interesting compromise between the FDH-approach and the CCR- and BCC-approaches. However, there are not that many CRS-applications characterized by strong disposability where a proportional down-scaling of all inputs for an observed data manipulating unit (DMU) followed by a non-proportional increase in the relevant inputs to their minimum levels if necessary cannot be expected to be able to produce the observed level of outputs for this DMU subjected to the same proportional down-scaling.
