Title

Moving Otherwise: Dance, Violence, and Memory in Buenos Aires.

Authors

Power-Sotomayor, Jade

Abstract

Chapter 2 discusses how embodied dance knowledges infused leftist militant tactics while also attending to dance works that directly engaged militant ideologies during the military rule of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Victoria Fortuna's I Moving Otherwise: Dance, Violence, and Memory in Buenos Aires i takes up these questions and offers a deep and illuminating engagement with movement - that which is danced and that which frames and extends from dance - and its oft under-the-radar relationship to politics in Buenos Aires-based contemporary dance.
