Abstract

This article, published in the Journal of Plant Pathology, reports on the first case of Rhizopus microsporus causing soft rot in apple fruit in Pakistan. The study describes the symptoms observed on the infected apple fruits, the isolation and identification of the fungus, and the confirmation of its pathogenicity through Koch's postulates. The researchers also note that R. microsporus has previously been reported to cause soft rot on sweet potatoes in Korea. This information provides valuable insights for researchers and practitioners in the field of plant pathology in Pakistan and beyond.
