The article cites a study which focused on the synthesis and pharmacological activity of &b.omega;-(4-phenylpiperazin-1-yl) alkylthiopyrimidines. The researchers synthesized and characterized a series of N-phenylpiperazine derivatives containing a mercaptopyrimidine cycle, which plays the role of a fragment favoring an increase in the affinity of compounds to adrenoreceptors of blood vessels. The synthesized &b.omega;-(4-phenylpiperazin-1-yl) alkylthiopyrimidines possess hypotensive activity, which can be related to their interaction with alpha adrenoreceptors of peripheral blood vessels.
