Abstract

Impedance spectroscopy, optical microscopy, and electrochemistry are used to study processes beneath a Kortecor 867 coating. Impedance spectra are obtained, equivalent circuits are selected, and equivalent circuit parameters are determined. It is established that a Kortecor 867 coating 0.85 mm thick exhibits good insulating properties, low permeability for corrosive medium components, and it significantly increases time to the start of corrosion beneath a coating (induction period). It is established that with an increase in test time electrochemical reaction resistance for steel beneath a coating decreases, and this is due to a reduction in total pore surface; corrosion rate beneath a coating does not exceed 10 mm/year.
