Inhibition of oxygen consumption in skeletal muscle-derived mitochondria by pinacidil, diazoxide, and glibenclamide, but not by 5-hydroxydecanoate.
Abstract
The article discusses a study on the effects of specific KATP channel activators like pinacidil and diazoxide and the action of inhibitors like glibenclamide and 5-hydroxydecanoate (HD) on oxygen consumption in isolated mitochondria. Oxygen consumption was explored using isolated mitochondria of pectoralis muscle of 3-week-old Arbor Acres chickens. It suggests that above agents exert effects on skeletal-muscle mitochondria not related to their effects on mito-KATP channel.
