Abstract

In this paper MnFeO nanoparticle was prepared by a hydrothermal method and characterized through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Alternating gradient force magnetometer (AGFM) indicated ferromagnetic behavior of MnFeO nanoparticles. The reductant agent, capping agent and surfactant effects on the size and morphology of MnFeO nanoparticles were investigated. Photocatalytic properties of MnFeO nanoparticle (band gap 1.35 eV) was measured by using the degradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation (84 %). Also band gap of MnFeO nanoparticles determined by UV-Vis spectrum (DRS).
