Abstract: A convenient and affordable synthetic pathway for obtaining new α-aminoamidines starting from aminonitriles is proposed. The α-aminoamidines obtained can be applied as substrates for further transformations and synthesis of imidazole- and pyrimidine-containing building blocks.
