- Abstract
Results are presented for study of the stress state of the cylindrical shell of a horizontal vessel at the point where the shell mates with discrete support assemblies subject to internal excess pressure and the axial force created by the weight load of the vessel. It is established that, as compared with box-shape (especially with a rectangular reinforcing sheet) supports, use of tubular supports is more rational, since a lower level of local stresses is created.
