Abstract

1 Variation of the circulating mtDNA according to gender and obesity status Discussion This study shows an inverse association between circulating mtDNA and obesity in children and adolescents. Assuming that c-mtDNA reflects mitochondrial function, boys could be more prone than girls to obesity due to mitochondrial dysfunction or to mitochondrial dysfunction due to obesity or both.
