Abstract

The article discusses the increasing relevance of artificial intelligence (AI) and informatics in healthcare, particularly in the field of nuclear medicine. While AI has made significant advancements in radiology, its potential in nuclear medicine is still being explored. The article highlights the challenges and opportunities of AI in nuclear medicine, including the development of AI-assisted interpretation workflows and the identification of novel imaging biomarkers. The first international networking symposium on AI and informatics in nuclear medicine was recently held, bringing together experts to discuss the current advances, challenges, and future of AI in the field. The article emphasizes the need for transparency, robustness, accuracy, generalizability, and accountability in the clinical deployment of AI technologies. It also emphasizes the importance of training and education to ensure responsible and effective use of AI in nuclear medicine. The article concludes by encouraging further collaboration and conferences on AI in nuclear medicine to continue exploring its potential.
