Goals for School Mathematics: The Madison Project View.

Abstract

The article discusses the goals of school mathematics curriculum for grade 2 through 9 in Missouri. Generally speaking just like the other studies, the case of mathematics is not exempted to the need of broadening of the curriculum. The author states the need to add on basic concept such as concept variable, the use of graphs on Cartesian coordinates, the arithmetic of signed numbers, the idea of open sentence and truth set, are just ideas that the child needs out of the mathematics can be easily learned by second graders.
