Abstract: 2-(Arylidene)cyanomethylbenzoxazoles have been prepared in water from benzoxazole-2-ylacetonitriles. Using multi-component reactions, a variety of heterocycles containing benzoxazole and nitrile functionality has been prepared. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2011).
