Abstract: The article discusses geriatric psychiatry as of April 2013, with a focus on depressive pseudodementia (DP) in elderly populations and an evaluation of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) as a treatment for DP. Topics include electroencephalograms and other neurologic examinations, patients with mood disorders, and treatment-resistant depression in old age.
