Synthesis and Characterization of the Trichlates [N(CH3)4][Cl3CSO3], [NH4][Cl3CSO3], and the Dichlate [NH4][Cl2CHSO3].
This article, published in the European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, provides information on the synthesis and characterization of trichlates, which are larger versions of triflates. The crystal structures of two trichlate compounds, NH4[Cl3CSO3] and (NH4)[Cl2CHSO3], are described, along with their properties and thermal analyses. The article also discusses the accidental synthesis of (NH4)[Cl2CHSO3] and the need for a reliable synthesis protocol for the [Cl2CHSO3]− anion. This research aims to contribute to the understanding of trichlates and their comparison to triflates.
