Abstract: The article presents a pilot study which investigated the therapeutic effect of huachansu in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, nonsmall-cell lung cancer, or pancreatic cancer. It notes that huachansu is a Chinese medicine for cancers which comes from dried toad venom from the skin glands of Bufo gargarizans or Bufo melanostictus. Results of the study revealed that no dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs) were observed in fifteen patients who participated in the trial.
