Abstract

The article discusses a study which examined the mechanism of improving the mechanical properties of the composites on the basis of the energy dissipation theory. In situ tensile test was used to investigate the crack initiation, propagation, and termination on the plerosphere/polypropylene (PP) composites. It was found that the toughness and strength of the polymer can be improved based on the observation that the microcracks formation consumes tremendous energy.
