A CASE OF EXTREME LANGUAGE DISABILITY CONCEALED BY STUTTERING.

Authors

Jensen, Milton B.

Abstract

The article cites a an unusual case of extreme language disability concealed by stuttering. The case involved patient who had so marked a language disability, reported the onset of the speech difficulty so clearly and fully, gave such evidence of purposive speech disorder, and responded so satisfactorily to increased knowledge of the mechanics of speech and reading. The patient, an unmarried woman of 21 years was referred to in November 1946 by a neurosurgeon who found "no organic base" for her speech difficulties. She stuttered badly on her first visit to the clinic and said that she always had trouble with speech.
