- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate differences in the romantic attachment and dyadic empathy as a function of the presence / absence of psychological violence perpetrated in dating relationships among university students. The sample consisted of 470 university students between 18 and 28 years from the city of Antofagasta, Chile, who completed the Experiences in Close Relationships (Brennan, Clark & Shaver, 1998), Interpersonal Reactivity Index for Couples (Péloquin & Lafontaine, 2010) and the Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS2) (Straus, 1996). The results allows to conclude that individuals who perpetrated psychological violence during the past year reported higher levels of anxiety and lower levels of perspective taking and empathic concern. No differences were detected in the avoidance dimension.
