- Abstract
The article "Remembering Edwin Nicholas Arnold (1940 - 2023)" in the magazine Eidechse reports on the death of Dr. Edwin Nicholas Arnold, a renowned herpetological expert. Arnold was born on October 16, 1940, in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, and was the director of a significant herpetological center. He completed his scientific education at the University of Oxford and primarily worked on issues related to the functional anatomy of lizards. Arnold was also known for his work on the reptile fauna of the Middle East and the subfossil reptile fauna of the islands in the western Indian Ocean. He published several books, including a field guide to the amphibians and reptiles of Europe. Arnold will be remembered as one of the greatest herpetologists of his time and as a reserved gentleman with great scientific depth.
