- Abstract
Objective: To show, through the observation of babies, the developmental theory, and with this correlation, to visualize the importance of being aware of happenings taking place during this period of life. Method: The study started by reviewing the structure of the self theory and continued with the object relation theory. Subsequently, this theory was materialized through direct observation of the babies and supervisions Results: The baby’s development, the integration between its psyche and soma, is the result of a continuous inter-play between the inner and outer worlds, with various shades. Conclusions: The observation of babies gives a valuable opportunity to understand the healthy development, possible early etiologies of suffering, enabling timely interventions and furthermore and sensitizing us to the need of prevention.
