- Abstract
The article presents the case of an 86 year-old woman who suffered from respiratory alkalosis due to severe salicylate poisoning in Great Britain. Her medical history revealed that she previously had polymyalgia rheumatica, transient ischemic attacks and depression. The results of her current medical examination showed that she is suffering from respiratory alkalosis because of excessive intake of salicylate. A discussion about salicylate poisoning and its physiological effects is offered.
