- Abstract
The article presents a study of the role of emergency obstetric hysterectomy in reducing maternal death rate, focusing on a retrospective review of 25 cases of emergency hysterectomy to understand the incidence, indications, and postoperative complications. It mentions postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) caused by uterine atony not responding to medical management and uterus rupture as the most common indication for the surgery, highlighting the importance of proper antenatal and early referral.
