- Abstract
The document presents a comparative study of cases of exposure to paracetamol reported by the Toxicological Information Center of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (CITUC) and the Toxicological Information and Advisory Center (CIAT) of Uruguay during the first quarter of 2024. Uruguay reported 3,517 cases and Chile reported 8,356 cases, with incidence rates of 101.9 and 41.4 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively. The predominant interlocutors in both centers were healthcare professionals and the main circumstances of exposure were suicide attempts and accidental exposures. Additionally, it was observed that paracetamol was consumed with other medications in 54.3% of the cases reported by CITUC in the year 2023.
