- Abstract
The monsoon season, with its torrential rains and floods, is a concerning cause of the spread of infectious diseases due to vector breeding and contaminated water and food, as well as its deleterious effects on respiratory conditions. Poor planning of development, urbanization, and civil infrastructure, along with rampant environmental interventions leading to climatic changes, are key factors. The severe burden on the healthcare system, combined with inadequate healthcare preparedness, budgets, and capacity, as well as poor inter-departmental coordination, are issues that need to be addressed to reduce the adverse and severe impact of monsoons on community health.
