- Title
Cost effective prescribing in cardiovascular disease.
- Authors
Bostock, Beverley
- Abstract
The article discusses the increasing pressure in the NHS to find cost effective lipid lowering therapies that are evidence-based, and provide a clear assessment of a drug's suitability for a patient. Health professionals must give clear information to allow the individual to make informed decisions. Generic statins are recommended first line for dyslipidaemia, although other options are available for patients contraindicated or poorly tolerated to the use of statins.
