The article discusses the use of relative risk in epidemiological studies in the U.S. It has been used extensively in cholesterol studies that have associated high total cholesterol levels, as well as high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, with an increased relative risk of coronary heart disease.
