- Abstract
Combustion derived LiAlO:Er, co-doped with Yb and Zn phosphor powders have been prepared at low furnace temperatures (500 °C). Formation of the compound was confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction technique. The near infrared (NIR) to visible frequency up-conversion and infrared (IR) emission upon excitation with a NIR laser lasing at ~972/980 nm are discussed. The possible mechanisms for the NIR to visible frequency up-conversion and infrared emission processes have been discussed on the basis of the energy level scheme, the pump power dependence as well as on the temporal evolution. The effect of the co-doping by the Yb:Zn on the frequency up-conversion as well on the IR emissions has also been monitored and discussed in detail.
